The Parachute Men
Earth, Dogs & Eggshells
1990

The Parachute Men were worthy of inclusion purely for writing a song called ‘Leeds Station’ name-checking city centre locations and with the chorus ‘I am Home, Leeds Station’. But more than that The Parachute Men were making much-loved records at a time when Leeds was a genuinely exciting place for what was termed ‘indie’ music and you felt any one of those bands could suddenly make it big.

Author Mike Gayle is a fan – you can read here why he had one of his characters claim ‘If I Could Wear Your Jacket?’ as their all time favourite song.
